A mild winter’s harvest / 2020

A mild winter’s harvest

Plant remains from my garden, ‘harvested’ after another mild winter.

Due to climate change, we are experiencing more and more mild winters in The Netherlands. I notice that as a result, plants bloom longer in winter and seem to decay less.

The flowers of A mild winter’s harvest were ‘harvested’ at the end of a mild winter. When photographing, I used only daylight; the long shadows of the winter sun. The photograph depicts a mixture of menace, beauty and melancholy.
